I say keep everything as is so the driver actually has to think about everything thats going on not just gas brake use hands to steer.
You aren't any more disconnected from the ROAD with a paddle shifter, so I don't follow that statement? I love stick as much as anyone and I personally will stay with stick for now too, but they've compared some of these cars to professional drivers and showed that the car actually either shifts close to the exact point, or more optimally than those guys. So what is to lose besides the physical act of shifting? As much as I hate to say it, it will slowly become less and less common. If you look at a lot of brands already, manual is almost difficult to find. When I had my E46, I had to order it with a manual because basically all of the cars at the local dealers were automatic (and there were no SMGs yet)

Yeah, a lot of the newer BMW's have been doing that for awhile. I had a guy whose wrx I was looking at and he let me romp around on his 135i with a 93 tune and 20psi. Man was that fun! But I was actually surprised when I got in it and saw that it was a 6 speed manual and not paddles.

thats the going price for a R34 in the states, This would make a good track car if the car has the proper cage and the fuel lines and everything were placed right. Car would make a decent show car if you decided to paint the trunk, interior, engine bay and exterior over. This car is in pretty rough condition however. I doubt it is registered. It might be state titled. The government can take the car though if it was imported illegally through motorex.

Think handling a 600hp tank that in a condition of mid corner needs a gear change and your hands are grabbing for a flappy paddle that isn't where your hands are as they don't turn with the wheel - Gehy!

I've driven both SMG and the DSG. Now given that, I didn't feel like I was in control as much as driving an actual stick, esp how they downshifted you can't decide how much torque to put down with your left foot with how much throttle was inputted. I could careless if it shifts faster and more optimal than a professional driver, you're having a computer do it for you, isn't that one less thing a human is inputting into a car you're driving? I think that is being disconnected am I wrong?

Well even if it did go around with the wheel, lets say you were in a turn that required the wheel to be half a turn around and you've changed wheel grip positions.... which one downshifts? oh your right hand? wait the left oh no, wrong shift. Oooops.

Are you saying you prefer paddles that turn with the wheel?

I much prefer the paddles to stay in one place independent of where the wheel is. That way if you have to shift while the wheel is inverted you don't have to wonder which paddle to hit. This is how most WRC cars are set up AFAIK.

Big difference between a rally car and a track car, a proper setup track or high end performance car for that matter uses very little steering angle. Extreme high end performance cars have the paddles part of the wheel not the hub, actually someone makes an adapter for the R35 to do this.

You change your wheel grip? If your turning enough to do that with a GTR rack you have bigger issues mate!

Baha now it's an argument over transmission choice on the track when I made a simple statement of me enjoying stick shift on the street. Now everyone's preeing in their pants.

In a GTR? If it's in a Subaru sure the steering racks are crap from the factory!
