Mod #1 Hands Down (if you aren't going to run rally tires): BF Goodrich KDWS tires. Some of the strongest sidewalls you can find outside of a rally tire and an awesome rallyx tire. RallyX is fun regardless, but it's a lot more fun when the car goes where your power is trying to take you. Stay away from snows - they look sexy on paper but with sidewalls of butter you need to run ~40psi, and the higher the pressure the less grip.
First, I'll second the recomendation of the KDWSs. If you want a tire for all conditions, that's probably the one that is the best on dirt, and yet sucks the least on tarmac. They're pretty tough, though I managed to shread one a couple weeks ago...
Mudflaps only if you dont think that rock-chips are sexy. (Which personally, I do!)
I'm using a combination of the AGX struts and the stock springs... no complaints here.
Next time Bushido anounces a "North Bay Dirt Drive"... effin' GO! (You'll either develop mad gravel chops, or you'll crash.)
Fun, fun, fun...
Mike

Hey man, come out to the rally-x on the 17th, if you dont want to use your car then, just ride with some other people since most of the drivers will be more than willing to let you ride along. I would offer my passenger seat, but I have a feeling my girlfriend will be joining me on all 4 runs.
You can talk to some of the other drivers there too and ask about their cars.
As for my car, I did my first two events with stock suspension and just an up-pipe and down-pipe. This season I'll be using sti struts/springs, and ~230whp/245wtq
oh yeah, I'll be using the re92s this season and last season I used avon tech 550 m/s tires

just a heads up for people wanting to get into rally-x. Take a look at the car classes and if your car is stock, run it stock for the first event. The rules are different this year so if youre catless, youre in the top group....which sucks
I think the bottom group allows a drop in air filter and some other stuff. Middle group I forget it all but I know you need atleast one cat in the exhaust system. The reason I say to try to get into the lowest class as possible is because after you grid up and youre sitting there with all those other cars, its a lot les intimidating to have other stock or relatively stock cars around you.

Mt Madonna and the southern half of Loma Prieta are pretty damn rough! No grading since last winter...
I say we all head for the Carizzo Plain.
