I think it really depends on how you drive. I ran a straight pipe for about a year and didnt have any problems. I always shift into a higher gear when im next to a cop.

I have a jdm Hks Hi Power Silent version and it is THE Quietest aftermarket performance catback out there. Quieter than the Hush or Whisper. Only problem is, it's still an N1 style exhaust with fart-can muffler. I had a friend drive my car (full tbe) WOT in a parking lot to see how loud it is and I could barely hear it standing 20 feet away. Sounds like stock in cabin with the windows up.

Driven for 4 years with a Cobb cat-back--absolutely no problems.

Also gone to a catted Titek DP and TOMEI EL headers...still never a problem with regards to the exhaust noise or getting noticed for that.

I've had mine for 8.5 years with absolutely zero issues, and I get a lot of compliments about how stealth it is.

I've been running an APS TBE for 2ish years and never had issues even with officers in close proximity. I usually don't even get a curious glance much less a stare down.

As stated above, i feel a lot of it depends on how you drive. Ive been running GT Spec header/upipe w/ catless TXS RFL-Ti turbo back since 2003. Never been ticketed. "knocks on wood"

American Bosozoku?

I have a SRS N1 3" CBE. Since I have put it on I have gotten a lot of tickets, nothing for the exhaust though. There was one CHP officer that was questioning me about it, but he ended up giving me a ticket for what he pulled me over for and that was my tinted windows. I also drive a 2.5i so any exhaust on my car is going to be quite a bit quieter than if it is on a WRX or STi.
