BTW, you're mixing terms here. A road tune is only as "accurate" as the tuner makes it just like with a dyno tune. What you're talking about is the road dyno measurement versus a chassis dyno measurement.

So did you drive up to Davis to get the road tune? I'm currently saving so I can have Ed tune my car, but I can't decide between scheduling time to do a tune using the mustang dyno, or get a road tune. While road tuning is cheaper, driving from san Jose to davis would cost some extra.

One question for ed, how do you avoid getting pulled over during the road tunes?

I always use the county highways that run between the farmland just outside of Davis. These highways have a posted speed limit of 55mph, but most people drive around 80. There are generally very few cars, absolutely no pedestrians, cross-walks, etc, and very few police patrol these roads. They are also completely straight for miles with great visibility. Its pretty much the best possible place for road tuning aside from a closed track.

However, as I tell everyone, if you don't feel completely comfortable with doing 3rd gear pulls (4th gear for STI's) in such conditions, Dyno tuning is probably a better option for you.

Thanks

And yes, I only do road tuning here in Davis. I have yet to find any suitable places in the Bay Area.
