Is the economy hurting you? (baic focus)

as for me, directly? no, but related? yes.

my brother was running a jewelry manufacturing shop and i was helping him, i mainly did cad/cam work and was just getting a steady paycheck. for the first time gold hit 1,000 an ounce back in april and platinum above 2000. insane!
we were doing great up until the metal prices started to skyrocket.

basically, alot of people stop buying jewelry, jewelry retails got no sale so we have nothing to make. brother closes the business and was offered a job in japan, i work for someone else now but still doing the same thing and get paid little more but however, business has slowed down tremendously, real test will come as the holidays come up.

share your story, i do wonder who's effected by the economy.

People are too cheap to get there car fixed now that the economy is screwd. The only work ive been getting is people coming in with $19.99 cupons for oil changes.

it is just time till it hits what I do, but you have to be smart with your money. I have money saved for up to a year with no work, i just hope that everything will turn around for the people that are hurting with the economy the way it is noe.

I am not effected as of yet, But my near futre may very well be. I work for a Wireless phone company and recently, just after the bail out announcment my company stocks droped by 30%. Im not to worried as of now since I am salary, But this is my future I am looking at. Down payment on a house, ect. I am truely hoping that who ever takes office can get us out of this mess that is effecting every 1 in the country. Kind of sad, a country that prints its own $$ is broke!

Well after I quit my job bach in march to have some time to myself before I leave for the military (guaranteed 4-6yr job if anyone wants to get in! lol) but I got bored after a few months and applied at about 10 different places from dealerships to old jobs. To the places I went to apply at, they weren't hiring. Needless to say I haven't had a job since march, but it was a personal choice. The economy isn't really hurting me honestly or family/friends that I'm aware of too badly.

Good morning Kyle. I need to see you in my office please.

Kyle, as you know, the economy has been real tough on our company and we have to let you go. Sorry.

i work for a plumbing company and i'm hurting pretty bad right now, but at least i can still make the car payment, luckly it's only $308/mo. i have only worked 1.25 hrs so far this week...it just suck's! and the bad part is that it's only going to get worse, from what i've heard. i have been hustle'in trying to sell a bunch of things just to get by and have been looking for another line of work...i've never seen it this bad!

The only thing I really notice is I pay a few cents more for gas than I used to. Other than that, my house isn't worth the dirt its built over. But that really doesn't effect my day to day life. My job isn't at risk and the government pays me a decent wage for what I do. However, I am considering contract work over seas. Gotta go where the easy money is even if the risk is a little greater.
