Thumbs up East Bay Mines Road/Mt. Hammy Cruise

Hello All,

I want to organize an East Bay Cruise that includes:

-Start in Livermore at a meeting point (as yet to be determined)
-go out Mines Road and San Antonio Valley Road up to Mt. Hamilton
-go back down the mountain to Del Puerto Canyon Road out to Hwy 5
-go up 5/580 to Tesla Road and back into LIVermore

I'm thinking about mid-late May or early June. Is Sunday best for people due to work/school schedules?....If so, maybe Sunday, June 3rd.

Thanks for the feedback!
Kelly :-)

how about any sun/mon/tue/wed/thurs at midnight? youre asking for trouble on that road from the cyclists, motorcyclists, and sunday drivers.

But yeah i would do it any other time

also, dont forget how hot it'll be by then. colder air=more power, heat=loss of power & heatsoak

I'd say the evening/night would be a much better time to do it

i dont know anyone that drives for fun in the daylight period. besides closed course or by themselves.

sucks that it will still be bright at 8 pm but will be good for a meet like this.

Id like to do a meet like this, but i want a nice camera to do it with! instead of my 3.3 3x zoom brick (with noise adder)

When I want to go "all out" I'll go by myself so not to endanger anyone else and not in groups. The point of cruises in my opinion is to go some what easy and enjoy the day and to meet new people, not to go crazy because that can be saved for the track or solo trips at night.

Just my 2 cents .

if you guys want, the 4wd club i belong to, will be trying to do a club run on an OHV park right smack in the middle of DEL PUERTO CANYON road, in 2 weeks.

but, we will start the other way around. we plan on meeting up at the arco station off VASCO, off 580 and caravan via I-5 down to patterson.

that is, if you like a bunch of jeeps and trucks doing the road clearing... lol...

i love driving that road for years, but in my semi-lifted truck, it kinda gets hairy sometimes...

and on an early saturday morning, the last few times, was clear of traffic...

if you ever wanted to take your vehicle and get it a little dirty, this place is a good place to do it.

Those are great roads.. count me in. IIRC, the roads on the East side of Mt. Hammy are pretty bicycle free even on weekends.. it's hot and dry ranch land out there. Motorcycles, on the other hand...
