Earthquake Rattles the East Bay
Source: kcbs
Publication date: 2003-09-04

(KCBS)--A 3.9 earthquake rattled the East Bay this evening with most people describing the shaker as short in duration but a sharp jolt.

The United States Geological survey places the magnitude of the quake at 3.9 with the epicenter three miles southeast of Berkeley and eight feet below the surface of the Earth.

KCBS's Al Hart in Walnut Creek says "there was no mistaking what it was. It was quite a shocker."

Residents in neighboring Oakland reported the quake was strong enough to send some items crashing off shelves but there are no reports of injuries from the earthquake.

I didn't feel it, but I saw the "breaking news" while I was watching the football game. I guess it never reached my area of san jose.
