Bump for info update.

The Chevron in Hayward at

525 W A St, Hayward, CA 94541
(510) 780-9536

E85 for $2.95 per gallon. I talked to them on the phone and the guy told me that they will be carrying the fuel as part of their normal product line for good.

Is it time for 1000cc injectors, a new turbo, and a front mount? Just maybe :P

I did some research on what the big ****ing deal is with getting e85 going here in CA. My family in Illinois says that e85 is all over the place there.

This page on the website of the company that got the e85 pump in Hayward cleared up quite a bit...basically our own CARB/state government is screwing us.

http://www.pearsonfuels.com/e85/

That company has a few things going on to get stations setup. A good read. Quite a bit of info on that site from a company that is making e85 actually happen for us.

edit:
The San Jose station will be open at the end of december:
680 Commercial Street, San Jose, CA 95112

Biggest issue is that you can't ship E85 via the current gasoline pipeline infrastructure, has to be trucked (i.e. costly to transport long distances). Most E85 in the US is made from corn, and I suspect you've noticed a certain crop in MAJOR abundance in IL and surrounding states

FWIW, it's a lot closer to "cost effective" to run it (i.e. the price/gallon is cheaper enough to make up for the MPG loss) in states in the midwest than out here. The power gains are just a side benefit

It really sucks to do a search for e85 in subject titles on subie sites and get like 4-5 threads. Then go and do one on evo-m and I get multiple pages with guys having tunes in the last couple months making big power gains.

We needs more e85!
