And the Dumb ***** Award goes toooooo.....

Donna Munson!!!!!

Really!?! Who feeds the bears.....

An autopsy showed a 74-year-old Ouray County woman whose body was found being eaten by a bear was attacked and killed by that same bear after she attempted to help a smaller bear that had been hurt in a fight..

...Munson told her brother Thursday night that the older bear was back and said, "I'm going to chase it off with a broom."

According to the county coroner, Munson was grabbed by the bear and it slashed her head and neck with such penetrating force that Munson would have bled out in 90 seconds...

...the bear "clubbed" her through the wire fence that she had built around her porch, rendering her unconscious. It then grabbed her, pulled her underneath the fence to the back yard and then slashed her to death, the sheriff's office said.

Later that day, a witness found a large bear feeding on Munson's body as it lay outside her home.

Bear in yard...

1)Load up .357
2)Load up slugs into 12guage
3)Step out onto porch and yell lots.
4)If bear charges, fire, bearmeat is best cooked medium rare, and bearskin rugs are the bomb.

i just throw rocks at them. they run like little b**tches. kinda funny.

i had one trying to ghet into the horse pen a couple weeks ago. i had to laf. the 2 horses, if he actually got in, would have beat the **** outta him. i keep waiting for the day i got feed them to find a young bear dead with 100 hoof marks on its head.....

bears are pretty stupid and rarely eat people. and in this case, she was dead meat to chew on.

but regardless, getting in the face of any wild animal is just stupid. leave them alone and they tend to leave me alone......

To be fair, the "black bear" is one of the most deadly in the world. The problem comes in that they have lost much of their fear of humans and civilized areas. They are also unpredictable in behavior, unlike the brown/Kodiak/grizzly that have an almost set in stone pattern to their aggressive behavior.

Bears have been breaking in to houses with people in them this summer in my parents' neighborhood (behind Sierra Meadows for the one Truckee guy on this thread), and banging pots and pans seems to work.... maybe no one informed her that noise is the way to scare them off? They really ARE sissies if you're loud enough!
Her broom tactics totally make me el-oh-el!
