Yeah, I know nothing about 350Z modding.

My friend drove my STi at an Auto-x and we're both pretty close in driving levels, one run we got exactly .001 seconds of each other. When he auto-x his car, his times were MUCH slower. Also, with the "oh ****" factor, the STi again beats it in the mountain roads because of the turbo feel. Our other friend both took a ride in our respective cars during a run up the mountain and he was much more impressed w/ the STi. Also, a 4 door STi/Evo is more practical because his car has very little trunk space/can't drive other people.

The 350z has more useful gadgets though like mpg rating, timer, tire pressure gauge, nicer lights, nice looks, nicer exhaust note, and I'm sure with some mods can be made to go pretty fast.
I somewhat agree with you. I think you also have to keep in mind that the times we did go, the there was a lot of crap on the surface. Like that time we were in SF, there was scrubs growing everywhere. Obviously, your STi will have better grip in situations like that.

Seriously, what he said. RX-8's are pretty sweet, "feel" much nicer to me and are much more useful. I love the way FD's drive and I really think they nailed it with the RX-8. I had one as a loaner for a while and it was SOOO much fun (especially above 7600rpm..).

Me personally, I really don't like the 350Z. After sitting in and riding in a friend's '03 Track, I was really glad I didn't get it.

Kind of funny that after 7 years of driving a WRX I'm now rolling in a '98 Camry with blown shocks. The WRX felt like it was on rails compared to the my current hoopty, and as almost everyone around here understands, a stock WRX suspension definitely has a lot of room for improvement!

Point is, it's all relative. I like the look of the 350Z, but would probably cross shop a G35 coupe if I was going that route. I've never driven one, but from what I've heard they feel heavy.

I would test drive the STI & EVO; your opinion on the 350z will change alot. Throw in the S2k and you will have a higher respect for NA, light weight, nearly perfect balance weight ratio cars.
S2k? The S2K that I drove was not something I'd consider to be "fast", not even close... Yeah, I barely fit into the thing and it's GUTLESS under 15,000RPM (more like 7)

Depends I guess how you define "fast", in a straight line or passing ppl in corners at THill

Yes, I do agree below 6.5k the S2k is pretty much a 2.0/2.2L w/o Vtec; but you have 6.5k-9K to work with; 3rd gear all day pretty much just like the RX-8 at THill except for turn 11-13 chicane.

Anyways, OG will never find out until he goes out and test drives the cars. If you are concerned about stock vs modded, just go out and try the different setups from the ppl selling them. Otherwise, just ask here; I'm sure alot of ppl can chime in.

The S2K is an awesome car, but it can suck in the hands of someone who doesn't mesh with it's personality - it's like a 4 wheeled street bike, super precise, high-strung, twitchy... It's a precise road slicer and yes, you shift @ redline. I had a little trouble getting used to downshifting into 1st for regular driving, but the shifter is soooooooooooooooooooooo (etc) nice. The one I drove was an '02, stock except for a Comptech carbon intake. But yeah, I am not very big and yeah it's tight for me too. BTW I think they did a 0-60 test against the S2k and a couple other cars shifting at the other cars' redline and they all killed it, yeah, it's not a dragster.

S2K vs 350Z for me though is a no brainer, it would be the S2K. I prefer smaller, lighter precise cars.

+2, thank god I'm not the only one complaining about the pos stock seats for the S2k. I kept telling my friend everything in the car is great except for their pos seats. 20 min in those things give you a frigging side lumbar bruise; definitely not made for wider bodies.

S2k with dry sump kit, TODA stroker bottom end and individual throttle bodies is a dream car for me.
