say NO to cordless dremels, I've had two different cordless ones, and they both blew so bad I gave them to a friend. I now have the same as zumnwrx, the 400 XPR except mine was the 70 accessory version. I have a crapload of the accessory kits. I use the dremel more than any other power tool I own.

I think that is what you'll find- get a cordless and it'll die before its time- either the battery or the whole unit, get a cheap one and it might get you through a job or two before self-destructing.
But if you want a tool that will become the most used power tool in your kit, you'll want to pony up for the higher end unit.

Get the craftsman rotary tool set. I have it and love it. It is extemely useful for tons of different projects. I've used the spiral cutter and circle jig to cut out my speaker spacers, the angle grinder to cut my heat shield and the hand held (dremel like attachment) for small sanding and cutting jobs. It also comes with a router attachment, sanding disks, drill bits...etc.

Here's one on EBAY...I got mine from OSH for about $100.
