since i got my car...7-8 months now? no front plate.
Only once, was pulled over once by a cop in Davis. Since my headlight was out he also mentioned i had no front plate.
All the cops around my area in SF and Daly City don't seem to care.

I've been without one for about 1 month now. It was ruined from a car accident and I've been too lazy to get a new one.
It's a matter of running into a cop that's bored - bad place at the wrong time kinda thing.
I know folks that have loud *** exhausts, and have never been pulled over. I got pulled over 4 days after I installed mine.
So, it's just a matter of time or luck.

I told myself I'd mount the front plate if I ever got stopped for not having it.
I have since put it on.
Why give LE a tool with which to stop you, and possibly jam you up for "other stuff"?
I'm not a cop, but I was for a while, and I'm still working for a local, Bay Area LE agency. The reason many cops will let you off for that violation, is so that other ofcs have that available if they want to stop you.
Calif. car dealerships are required to provide a mounting option for the front plate.

There are a few cool cops though I've talked to a bunch of them.

Where abouts in San Ramon do you live? I'm in SR too. I've also never been pulled over (period) or been bothered by not having plates...my wrx came with only the rear. Besides, most of the cops are lazy and don't care where I live.
