do County Courts cross reference?
Alameda County, Fremont Hall of Justice
-Speeding Tix on 12-3-01
Traffic school completed 5-7-02
No point on record...
-Speeding Tix on 12-3-02
Currently in process of Trial By Written Declaration (i just got my paperwork, and need to submit my side within 30 days.)
Traffic School is not an option.
San Juaquin County, Tracy Branch
-Speeding Tix on 1-1-03
Just got the letter in the mail. Was going 60 in a 40. 3 miles prior the speed limit posted was 55mph. I did not notice that the speed limit changed. The road increased in lanes, and also quality, so i kept the same speed. Well, i was pulled over. "I got you clocked at 60 mph" I later asked to see the radar, "Oh, i was pacing you" "if you feel you'd like to contest it, you may do so. The weather is clear and the traffic was light, and you may see a judge to contest the ticket. Heck, if i don't show up, the ticket is dismissed, so who knows. happy new year." Being out of town, and not having driven on that road more than twice in my life do you guys think i can get it thrown out? OR maybe get a chance to take a Point Reduction class or something?
So, the question is, do the courts cross reference? Would one know that i took traffic school for a violation in another county, and court system? It says on my ticket for my 2nd tix that if i was to take traffic school more than once in a 18 month time period, i would have a conviction on my record? that mean they'd give me a point, and tell me i gotta pay up?
I am also going to do a trial by written declaration for my 3rd ticket. I'm hoping in both cases the officers don't write up their stories.
the 2nd ticket was totally bogus. He was writing someone a ticket, i pulled up, loud exhaust and all, and he walked over and ticketed me. He had no Gun, no pacing... nothing but hearing my come down the street. He wrote 35+ in a 25. so i'm pretty sure I will have it dismissed. but if not, that sucks.
Gimme any advice you guys got.

When you speed, etc, you are breaking the California Vehicle Code, being upheld locally. You get two tickets in two different counties, your California driver's license has two points... wherever you go
I'm sure any court in california, local or state will know of any in violations of the CVC you've been convicted of or have pled no contest to, and what the court ordered you.
As a side note, I have seen traffic school granted if you go to court and still lose, and still aren't out of the 18 months probation-ish period between eligibility for traffic school. My guess is the court figures its got you on a real conviction, not just a no contest, why not be a little bitty bit merciful. I have also seen, just as court comes into session, the magistrate offer defendants a chance (second to the original datewhen you plea) to plead no contest and get traffic school, irregardless of when you've taken it. Its all up to the whim of the magistrate. If some clerk botched his bagel and coffee that morning you're screwed. If his new wife half his age went down on him before he left for work, you send her a thank you card

I've been on BAIC.NET mostly, and not much at that. I wish BAIC.NET would take off and become a primary SFBA club site. But I've been getting bored :-/ so I've been around here more and more.
Gagan, I've never won a traffic tix case.
