Date ideas in the city
Date ideas in the city
I need to call on the power of the i-clubbers for suggestions. Basically I'm going on a blind date, but I'm not sure where to take her. Most likely it'll be on a weekend from sometime in the mid-afternoon to the evening.
I've pretty much got an idea of what to do during the day. Maybe some indoor rock climbing or taking her to a museum. Then some diner at Pasta Pomadroa. Sunset walk on the beach, but I have no idea what to do afterwards.
It'll probably be around what 7 or 8ish and I'm not sure if she's old enough to drink yet so clubbing is probably out of the question. So I need your help, what's there to do around that time? I think that a cafe might be the way to go, but I need suggestions.

Hmm... what's your budget look like? If you can spend money, then I have definite ideas, but if it's the standard student budget, then we may have to get creative here.
Mission Cliffs in the Mission Dstrict is a good spot for indoor rock climbing, but I'm not sure if you want to take your date someplace where you two will get sweaty/exhausted before the date even gets under way, unless you KNOW she will enjoy it or she is a very physical person. I suggest something a little less "intense" for the first stage. After all, this IS a blind date, and unless you KNOW that is her thing, it might be a little too intense.
Now, I am not sure if you want to take her to a museum, either, unless she is very into art. It might be a little TOO laid back.
What kind of tone do you want to set for the evening? What kind of impression do you want to give her? (Damn, I didn't realize this was going to become a blind date 101 session
).
Can you give us some hints/details on what she is like, and what kind of tone you want to set? That may narrow the focus. Otherwise, you'll get all kinds of suggestions, like "take her to the Pier" or "take her on a spirited drive in your RS" or "take her bowling."

Well, from what I do know. She doesn't like movies or TV, likes someone that cares about their health, but not affraid of calories. She's in my engineering classes so I can pretty certainly say she's a nerd too. I think maybe the Exploratorium might be cool for us nerds. The SF film festival is coming up but she don't like films, damnit. There's also the Cherry Blossom fest. too, but I'm already taking someone else.
Oh yea, Joe. Might not be able to make the drive later this month. Might have a hot date! Sorry guys, but I know you understand. And unexpected expenses might prevent me from going to the rally-x this weekend too

EDIT: Looks like the rally-x is postponed to may anyway.

See if you can get a slot at the Tactile Dome at the Exploratorium. I've done that as a date a couple times and it never fails to please. It doesn't require as much exertion as rock climbing, but still says I'm fun, active, and someone you wanna give up the ill na na for.
Also go somewhere more interesting than Pasta Pomodoro. SF is one of the best cities on earth to eat-- get good Mexican in the Mission, fantastic Asian food all over, or something a bit different in the Haight.
Good luck.
