I need some ideas for what to do on a first date

So I'm going out with a girl this friday night and it will be our first date. I want to make it fun and memorable, but I'm having trouble deciding on what to actually do. So if anybody has suggestions for fun first date ideas in the San Jose area, please help me out.

What I've thought of so far is dinner at La Fondue, and maybe something fun like indoor rock climbing before hand at Planet Granite.

A friend suggested playing pool or taking her to a shooting range. But I'm not sure how the shooting range would go over on a first date.

Anyways, I would greatly appriciate any help or ideas anybody may have

I was thinking that Dick-in-a-box and IDP were more along the lines of a 2nd or 3rd date type of thing

I think I'd keep it much lighter and less serious than taking her to some expensive restaurant. I'd suggest simply asking her what kind of food she's in the mood for, find something casual, then maybe some pool, bowling, or some activity you can have fun with.

I wouldn't go rock climbing on the first date, unless you're SURE she has no fear of heights, etc.

and that shes physically capable, imagine taking a "big" girl rock climbing only to have her fail miserably and be all pissed off all night that she got embarrassed

Rock climbing=not first date material

Unfortunately I don't know any of her friends yet, so I won't be able to ask them anything.

Yeah, I am still kind of iffy on La Fondue, it does feel like it could be a bit much. But I totally didn't even think about her being scared of heights. Good call!
