Cruise control problems?

Just recently I've had an issue with mine. On long trips, it will randomly just shut off while I am cruising and won't re-engage. I flick the resume, it comes on and immediately shuts off. I flip the switch off and back on and then engage it and it does the same thing. It doesn't happen all the time, but since I have another home 200mi away, I drive a lot and having the cruise giving me problems is not cool. Anyone else have it do something like this? Recalls for that or a known issue/TSB?

I don't have a way to check. Just wanted to see if others knew anything before I take it in. My extended warranty is up this year so I want to get stuff like this that might be warrantied taken care of before it does.

just curious. Is your turbo heat shield removed/aftermarket/modified?

The CC module is right next to the turbo/DP. Without adequate shielding, not only will you heat soak your intercooler, but also cook your CC unit. Curious to know if this is the issue for you.

Interesting. I do have a SPT heat shield, but it has been on there for quite a while and this just started happening. That would still seem to fit the conditions though: only on long drives and only after I've been on the road for quite a few miles already which could mean heat related.

clutch or brake pedal position switch problems can cause this exact behavior

another clue is if your brake lights come on without stepping on it, but for me it was the clutch pedal switch

No problem with the brake lights. For the clutch pedal sensor, it always happens while I am cruising for long periods and not touching the clutch, but I can have that checked too. Thanks.

If I hit a bump/pothole kind of hard w/ the CC on, it won't turn on again until I turn off the motor and turn it back on... I've never figured out why though.
