You think a one owner '02 with 50K is way overpriced at $15K? What would you say is a fair price for it? Assuming it's clean and accident free with all maintenance records?

Assuming that it had all of that and it was the "perfect" used car, he might get his asking price. After owning an 03 WRX myself, I personally wouldn't pay over 13000 for an 02 WRX with that many miles (not that it's alot of miles). It might be a nice car, but it still has the problematic trans that could go at any time. You can pick up an 04 for that price if you shop around.

What problematic tranny? You can't blame the tranny on folks that don't know how to drive.

<-- heavily abused 03 WRX w/250 whp 263 tq and 80k miles on stock tranny and clutch

any tranny is problematic if you abuse it . its not problematic, its just that the wrx tranny may not be able to take as much abuse as another car's tranny.

that being said, i sold my 2003 WRX 5MT with 90k miles for 13k, and had a ton of potential buyers. it had a clean title, excellent condition. almost perfect.

how many 'keep it stock' posts do we have to make in order for people to understand that (in an otherwise normal situation) a modded car will fetch less $ regardless of how much $ they put into all the mods. mods = abused. mods does not equal upgraded and faster to the new buyer. UNLESS of course, the new buyer is heavy in the subaru community

Problematic tranny meaning that it's alot more likely to go compared to say, and STi tranny, or any other automaker tranny for that matter. Just because yours hasn't blown doesn't mean they're not problematic, although just because mine did doesn't mean they are. Although it's not uncommon to hear of gears breaking, or even more common, synchro grinds. And don't worry, I'm not taking this personally. But you can't ignore the fact that 02-03 WRX's have far more trans problems than others.

On a second note, all mods aren't bad when selling a car, you just haveto make sure you have the right ones installed. An STi 6 speed, or even RA gears, on a WRX, will make the car value go up in most cases. They're not associated with speed, such as a turbo kit is. They're more "durability" parts. And just because they have an upgraded trans doesn't mean they had 500+ hp going through it, or abused it. I know from personal experience.

... but it may be a little more money than I want to spend. It sounds like it would be a good buy for someone who's on the hunt for one.

Anyone know what's up with this 98 OBS?

It's been on CL for a WHILE. And I mean a while (first time was during the summer).

It seems like a good car for commuting and such. Mileage isn't THAT high...
