OE is Purolator Pure One.... and yeah they're $6 at Pep Boys while you'll pay a good $12+ usually at the dealership.

I've been using the Mobil 1 M1-110 filter. The M1-108 is what you're supposed to use on the WRX. The 110 is identical in every way except for being twice as tall... which is good. Additionally, the past three times I've hit up Auto Zone to buy 5 quarts of Mobil 1 and a Mobil 1 filter, there's been an instant $7.50 discount, which rocks. None of the guys at AZ even know about it.

Purolator is no longer the oe maker for the MY04-05 cars. Can't remember what the brand is.

We use 15208AA080 for the 2.5L engines because the white filter (AA060) will NOT fit. However, the AA060 *will* fit on the WRX's and will *not* hurt anything in your car.

We never recommend FRAM or aftermarket filters because we have encountered leakage from them.

Always remember to change the crush gasket too!

PS: Use the service only forum!! This is the perfect type of question to ask there! We don't bite!
