Correct oil filter part #

i swear it seems like every freakN!!!!! time i go to the dealer to get a oil filter the damn design has changed (big filter/small filter) or the part # is different

so far i have

part # 15208A A100 small filter
part # 15208A a060 big filter
part # 15208A a080 small filter

i have my car outside on jacks drained of oil and for some odd reason i dont think this 15208A A100 filter is for the wrx

I had the same problem!! The filter on my car at the moment is white and big, although I'm not sure of the part number. I ordered 6 WRX oil filters a few weeks ago and got the small black ones (A100) and didn't think they were the correct filter so I STILL haven't changed my oil. I ordered more filters from Subaru Parts so now that you've confirmed that the A100's are the right filter, I'm going to have 10 oil filters. I guess I'm set for the next 40k miles or so.

Oil filter was changed from 02-03 MY to the 04-05 MY. I had to return a filter that I had bought for my 04-05 WRX because it was for an 02-03. A lot of the parts books at the part stores don't have the corrections listed. I think you can use the smaller ones on the 02-03 but don't quote me on that.

They all fit.

The 60 is white and big. It was the original design. They changed to 80 because the big white filter was sitting too close to the exhaust manifold, and the smaller filter kept oil temps down. The 100 is the same crap in a different pile.

They all work. If you have major issues with heat, don't use the 60. Otherwise, use whatever you got.

I'd buy 100s becuase they are Subaru's newest.

I buy them 10x at a time so I only have to go thru this every 30k miles. The funny part was when I ordered 2x filters for my '95 Impreza and 2x for the WRX and got 3x different filters. So then I was sitting there with my WRX, RS and L scratching my head trying to figure out what goes where (some were black, and some were white too). The worst part was I swore I used the big filters on my WRX, but Carlsen changed the oil last and used a little (04-05) one. Wow... Now I just have the RS and a pile of old WRX filters. Oh no I've gone crosseyed...

edgar,
Why do you save your used filters?

I just go to pep boys, they have a book full of it. Also, they have purolator (which i believe is the OE brand). They have coupons which makes them pretty cheap.
