Me thinks you know **** about dell or any of their products. All dell, if your not too cheep to pay a little extra when you buy the machine, are on site. They come out to you and replace the parts within 24 hours. I myself have an alienware and they have been fantastic about replacing parts fast (****ing alienware, great laptop, but runs WAY too hot, burns the motherboard out if the fans arn't running on full)

My company is a dell house, its all we use there. My suggestion to the op is to take a look at dell's "scratch and dent" page. I picked up for my partner a damn nice laptop with 17" screen, 4 gig ram, dual core, 160 gig drive, and nvidia stand alone card for almost $1400 under what it sold new.

hmm, i'm in the market too. I need one with a nice LED screen. Might be leaning towards macs but iono., i wouldn't mind a windows 7 laptop.
it'll be mainly used for photo editing and post processing stuff.

Don't forget the Mac can boot into OSX or Windows.... or both at the same time if you want.

At the cost of slower CPU speeds, Slower ram speeds, and slower ATA speeds.

The fact is, macs will never be on par with a PC built machine, even hardware for hardware the mac's use a poorly designed motherboard that hinders backplane speed.

Hmm... maybe if you're running them at the same time but that hasnt happened to me. I run WindowsXP through boot camp on my year and a half old MacBook and it runs much faster than my brand new Thinkpad Lenovo on XP. Also I'm pretty sure the Wall St. Journal did a side by side comparison of Vista on a Mac and on a PC and the Mac was faster.

I've used approx 6 laptops in the past 2 years (mine, friends and family) and the only PC laptop that compares to my MacBook is my buddy's brand new HP, I'm not sure of the specs but I think I could live with it.
