I've had to deal with a lot of mice, but never had problems with rats

Don't know if I would have smacked it with a hammer, probably cover it with something and toss it

Unfortunately it was stuck on mouse glue traps and was trying to get free and was draped over the electrical cord. So I couldn't just scoop it out and into a bag. I was going to have to get it unstuck in order to remove it. I wasn't gonna do that with it still alive.

They did a bunch of work on the freeway by our house. So we had rats all last year and the year before. I was shooting them out of the tree in the back yard (got 7 that way) and nailed 3 in the garage (High power pellet rifle), plus 1 in the house (crossbow, I waited for him to come out in the kitchen for 2 hours, sitting in the dark)

How about adopting a cat? I did because I too had mice problem in house and backyard. I'm not exaggerating, my cat literately cought a mice within a few minutes I brought her in. It was as if she knew why I adopted her. Now, no more mice problem. Try animal shelter and save a life.

I like cats, would like to have one...can't. I own a cat eating husky (very typical for the breed, they HATE cats for the most part, see them as prey)

but for a non dog house, this is a great suggestion.

If you don't get them all with poison, don't the rats smarten up and avoid eating the poison altogether? Same goes with the traps...

I use glue traps for indoors. In order to not have them die inside walls and such. Use poison outside where it doesn't matter. If you have pets they sell covers that will keep the pets away from the poison. Good luck.

i had a rat die in my engine bay on top of the lower bumper splash guard, it started to rot and my friends dog kept barking at my car. So i looked around for roadkill meat underneath..reached underneath (luckily with a glove on) pull out a rotting rat with larva in it.

It was nasty but what really had me wondering was..why did a rat climb into my engine bay up on the splash guard and all of a sudden pass out and die? the body was in perfect shape..and didnt looke like it was tore up by any belts.

It was cold and wanted engine heat to keep it warm.
