Exclamation Clutch Shudder, which Sac dealer is best?

I just called my local dealer (AutoWest Subaru in the Roseville Automall, California) and set up an appointment to get my Clutch Judder issue diagnosed. On the phone I mentioned that I have all the cold clutch shudder symptoms, and that I would like the TSB to be performed under warranty. He said to bring it in and have it diagnosed. He said if the problem is not related to abuse, then it might be covered under warranty. He made it sound like they're going to blame it on abuse, but I can tell you, I don't abuse my clutch... The thing that really ticked me off is that I have to authorize $179 for the diagnosis, and I'll have to pay that, plus $$$ for the actual repair if they decide to not cover it under warranty...

People from the Sacramento area, do you recommend another dealer that is easier to deal with getting warranty work done? The only mods I have on my car are new performance brake pads, SS brake lines, and DOT4 brake fluid... There's no ligitimate reason they should deny me warranty due to mods...

Wish me good luck, I want to get this problem resolved without paying a cent, I shouldn't have to.

go to jenson motor center in napa, they were really good about my claim and gave me a loaner car for 2 days, even though my car was only in service for 1 day...

Yeah, $179 just for diagnosis... I'm really starting to hate AutoWest Subaru Roseville. I'm so mad that I bought my car at that dealer... If I had only known then what I know now.

i just cant believe that they wanna charge you for diagnosis. so if they diagnose it as the TSB shudder problem, are they gonna refund your diagnosis charge?

id just take it to either Maita or Gold Rush.. they didnt try to charge for diagnosis..

anyway, good luck

Call Maita and talk to Jim at the service counter and see what he says. Gargantua had his clutch replaced there under warranty, and they know about clutch shudder and have replaced them on several cars.

Diagnosis should be covered under warranty too. Dont trust the automall dealership at all, i have yet to hear a good story about them. (I just go there to buy small parts occasion due to its proximity to me, thats it)

can someone post a link to the thread that discusses the "updated clutch" they give you? from what i remember, it's almost not even worth getting because it (allegedly) involves an even heavier flywheel than stock (is that even possible?!?!) and a clutch disc that won't even engage above 3000 RPM to prevent "abuse". Anyone have any thoughts on this (poke, poke.... freddie, travis)?

That Jim guy at Maita is whacked! I brought my car in to fix some transmission leaks, and he puts down clutch shudder on the work order He must expect that every single WRX wants to get that fixed
