My RPS feels very similar to stock. Wife didnt notice a difference driving the car. Price point is the only negative.

If the car is basically stock, there's no reason to go beyond the Exedy
It has no problem holding my STI and it's pulling ~60WHP more than your WRX

An overbuilt clutch buys nothing other than a finicky pedal.
The only job of an engaged clutch is to connect the engine to the transmission. It either slips or it doesn't.
You could put a Tilton 7" clutch in a street car. But guess what it buys you nothing

I have the same clutch on my '02 sedan. Put around 10k miles on it now and it's my favorite clutch I have had yet. It's a great clutch as it feels pretty much like stock, but can handle a good amount of power as you upgrade things. This replaced a completely blown/slipping stock clutch on the car when I bought it (54k miles). The car was clearly abused in it's previous life but hey.

If the OP is going to leave the car stock then the Exedy will be fine. I have had a few of those in the past on different cars and they are great. If he wants to make more power down the road, the RPS will be just as fine, and probably last through the changes as well.

The Street Max is nothing like an RPS Stage 3 or even an Exedy Stage 2 clutch. Those are more extreme and not easy to live with, while the Street Max is something you could easily put in anyone's car. Admittedly, I am a fan of the product and the company as my mechanic had some issues with mine, and they were extremely helpful.

Price is indeed a downside, but I have high hopes that it will last.
