Not too sure about that. Here's a quote from some guy interviewed by cnn:
But Consumers Union spokesman Chris Murray told CNNfn the merger could lead to higher prices and poorer service for cell phone customers. "We can expect to see fewer deals and higher prices, just as we've seen with the mergers of cable companies," Murray said.

I'll be forced to give him the thrashing of his life if my service sucks.

GDB_Dragun: Cingular and AT&T both use GSM phones, you can get GSM phones unlocked to work with any carrier, so in the future AT&T GSM phones will be useable with the Cingular Network, as they are now through roaming agreements.
I have AT&T right now and I have always gotten great coverage, in Sac and in Vegas and will traveling between the two. I am glad Cingular bought them out though because I want a better/cheaper plan and I like their phones better.
hmmm...i read somewhere that you can get out of your contract without early termination fees because of the merger. is this true? i'm with at&t and have been thinking about going to verizon but i am still under contract.
Speaking of Cell phones...
What plan do you have? I've been with Cingular for like 6 years and I think it's time for me to upgrade my plan...lately I've been going over my minutes and it's been costing me lots of $$
