a change of heart

After owning my 2007 wrx wagon for about a year and a half I have really had a change of heart.....but not with suby's with the wagon.
When I bought the car I told myself I wouldn't mod and I told myself I need to haul things. Now that I see both those have changed I really want to switch to a sedan, but am not sure what to do. Idecided to ask the fellow bayer's for advice.
Spring for an STi, or look for a car like mine but in a sedan and make a trade offer to the dealer? My car right now is worth 22,200 on kbb. I have seen sti's for 26,000 at the dealer, so I am guessing they'd expect me to give them like 6,500 to keep the same payments I have now?
Do you think the dealer I purchased mine at would trade me for like a tr with a little more miles and not charge me any money?(that means they'd pay the taxes, registration, etc., but have a more valuable car on their lot)

Does anyone know how the legal issues would work if I don't own the car yet?
I know this sounds dumb and foolish, but truthfully, I would rather take the hit, look like an idiot to everyone who knows me, but in the end be more pleasent with my situation.

I wouldnt buy used from a dealer - I need to talk to the original owner and see what kind of vibe I get and ask questions about the history of the car.

That said, I also sold my 2002 wrx wagon in order to pick up an STi - it was a great decision. Yes, I do miss the hatch but the power, 6spd tranny and Brembo brakes more than make up for it.

Do lots of searching and you will find the right car - I found my 2004 STi with 22K miles last year.

Good Luck.

Do a wagon with an sti swap. then you can have the thing to haul stuff at a faster pace. it would be cheaper than buying another car. hell 6,500 thats a pretty damn good start. get a crate motor and tranny. you would be set. thats my project for 2010.

I love my wagon. I waited for the dealership to get a wagon. before i bought

if you arent too deep into modding the wagon, then its not a bad idea to at LEAST go to a subaru dealer and ask what they can do in terms of trade ins. if they cant do what you want, leave and keep the wagon. thats what i would do anyways...

ya....i havent even really started but I plan on having the car I mod for a long time so I don't wan't to start something get half way through and change my mind
ya the sti swapped wagons are cool, but I really want a sedan
So I can either sell my car and buy used- what kind of financing is available right now outside of dealers?
Or I can see what a dealer can do for me. Of course thats the first thing to do and like slug said if its not right walk away.
The main thing is if I just get another regular WRX, I do not want to be losing over 1,000 dollars in the end after taxes etc. I think that is doable with my 22,000 kbb. If I get an STi I don't want higher payments either, so I will have to find another 5,000 maybe if I do this privately? Thats doable for me.

I recently sold my 05 wagon w/ 2.5l swap and bought an 06 STI. I do miss the wagon on occasion... the hauling capacity and stealth factor were awesome. The STI is a completely different beast, though. The tranny, diffs, brakes, bracing, suspension, etc make the car completely different and it would have taken a lot of money to get the wagon to this point.

FYI, I got the 06 STI with 17k miles for $25k.

Thanks

Well maybe I should just plan on selling mine for kbb and then find the best deal I can get. I really want an 06 sti as my first choice. Did you buy privately or at a dealer? (Im guessing privately with the price though.)
