Ended up using a friends AP. Here's what came up:

CEL + Engine Shaking!!!-forumrunner_20130905_150053.png

*PO301 cylinder 1 miss fire*

To my understanding, I need to uninstall the coil pack from cylinder 1 and inspect the spark plug? Then swap coil packs 1 and 3 and reinstall everything. Restart ECU and assess from there?

You'll be lucky if you didn't do more damage to your vehicle while driving it.

Can you get a video? Is there any smoke out of the tail pipe? What color?

What happens when you open your upper coolent res while it's running?

Usually bucking like that is a misfire. Hopefully you didn't pull some teeth off the belt. How many miles on the timing belt? It's more likely for it to skip a tooth or bust teeth off during start up.
Thanks for that tip on CEL!

No unusual smoke but a very unusual smell.

Haven't tried opening the coolant res. What happens if I do that?

Timing belt was changed at 110,XXX miles. Hopefully it isn't anything associated with the timing belt or teeth.

Thanks again for all the positive insight guys, really appreciated.

Austin

Do the coil pack deal. It's probably that.

If it was a skipped tooth it probably woulda happened a long time ago. The only time you're gonna rip teeth off is if it's really old. Happened in my wife's VW. $60 part and a couple hours of my time coulda stopped a several thousand dollar issue. Ended up selling the damned thing for $800.

The smell coulda been unburned fuel if you were missing that bad.

Hopefully it's just the coil pack. That's the easiest and cheapest of the possible bads. Good luck.

I finally had time to work on this today and I believe I fixed everything. She's running again! (Keeping my fingers crossed)

I went ahead and did the following:

- Cleaned the MAF sensor
- Replaced the spark plugs with NGK Iridiums OEM heat range
- Replaced coil pack on cylinder 1
- Reset ECU

Start up felt & sounded way better. I drove around the block one time and the CEL never came on; I hope this fix is permanent. Special thanks to everyone who chimed in on this.

*Thanks to jpm115 on swinging by and selling me a single din under tray, today. Great guy.
