I didn't realize he lived his life as such a "Shut-In". It reminds me a lot of Terence "Terry" Mann in Field of Dreams (James Earl Jones character).

I think the fact he didn't write any other novels, speaks very highly and thoroughly to the message in catcher in the rye, imo.
It seems really intelligent introverts like him and howard hughes have an obsession with their own urine. Interesting.
