Thats what u get driven a honda......

Timing should be a none issue, its within spec...since it passed the functional timing check, but failed for emissions..

i know the egr valve ain't cheap.
i would first do a functional test on it, to see wether its ok first, before throwing u money away.

Good luck

BTW check to see how good the cats working...many times a bad 02 will destory a cat converter...

Wat's wrong with driving a "HONDA" ?

btw.... if the O2 sensor is bad..and cause the car to run rich... it can kill the CAT...

But I pulled a bunch of stuff off my car to see the state ref and I was getting 24mpg. I reset my ecu. Put about 500 miles on it and it was running around 31plus mpg. I passed with like 10% of allowable. So clean.

his problem looks more like a bum cat or needs a new 02 sensor to me. But the ecu deal worked for me.

I passed with a 270 cam in my car.

I failed smog with high NO readings a few months ago on my '87 integra, similar to you. A mechanic friend of mine recommended I change the CAT and that resolved the problem. I had the work done over at Kwik-Way in Santa Clara for like $130 for one of them high flow cats(took them 10 minutes). That should give you a reference if you need to get a new cat.

good luck.
