I actually got hit similar to that almost in the same spot, except I was the last car in the line who was stopped and was the one the dude hit. He did hit the brakes hard and because he was nose diving, he actually went under and lifted my car up. No fire and thankfully no injuries, but three cars damaged, his and mine totaled. It is just a bad spot where the traffic converges a bit as it goes around the curve and part of it because it is right after 101 dumps onto it.
