don't they give you the amount that its worth?

also, why doesn't he just ask his insurance company? i bet they know a lot better than anyone on here how much they will give him.

They'll give him blue book and possibly more if he asks, nicely, if they would consider any of the upgrade (if any) of any value. I tired and got more than blue book before.

I would say since his car is valued at $19,000 that the insurance company would pay him out $34,000 to purchase an Sti. But then again I'm no claims expert so wth do I know. Seriously though ish is right he should be talking to his insurance agent about that.

you guys are all wrong, I just totalled my 02 WRX with 76000 miles on it, and have full progressive coverage. they don't give you blue book(thank god for bay area prices) They will give you average market value. so my 02 blue book is only 15000, but they gave me 20500 becuase it is in the Bay area. and minus 3000 for salvage, so I have 17500 to fix it now

when my friend got into an accident the insurance company jipped him, but it was mostly his fault (him being jipped)
supposidly there is some leeway/haggleing that can be done when it comes to how much you get back from the insurance company.
in my friends case, the insurance company paid like 4k less than the car was actually worth, but by the time he figured it out it was too late bvecause he already signed the document.
