Get a USP, its a very balanced gun with a nice feel to it. The Germans really know how to make great killing devices

Actually, I have been shot at, I used to carry for work. I have never shot anyone.

H&K USP is one of those guns I've always wanted to like and never had.
They just don't feel good in my hands, and the mag release is awkward. It's personal preference for feel. But H&K has burned a lot of bridges over the years

I really like the idea of the 5.7 round... but from what I've read, it really needs the rifle barrel of the P90 to work well

in the 28 XXXXX later series, they were not zombies in the romero type thingee...

they were still living humans who were infected by the rage virus.

i was so jone'sing for a fn5.7 back when it first came out.

i even got a chance to fondle a full auto P90 a few years ago. the person just ran out of ammo before i had a chance to shoot it.

but after looking at the cartridge closer, a 9mm looks to have better performance, well plus it makes bigger holes.

the P90 as a SMG does make sense though. especially if your dept/work buys the not so common ammo. but as a handgun... there are better choices.

Actually from one shot to the next, regardless of whether its a small caliber or large caliber round the bullet is out of the barrel before you physically feel any of the feel recoil. So regardless of the caliber, it will be as accurate as you are able to aim it.

again, (serious competitive shooting aside) there's nothing more inherently accurate about a 9mm or smaller rounds than larger calibers, especially insofar as home/personal defense in concerned. Theres nothing wrong at all with 9mm, and if thats what youve been most comfortable with than theres plenty of choices. But I think you might be a bit 'gun shy' of larger caliber, and thats whats affecting your aim, not some inherent inaccuracy of larger rounds. But also keep something in mind about long range accuracy, almost all personal defense shootings occur within 10 feet. If your going to claim that you had no choice but to use lethal force on someone whos 20-30+ feet away from you, youre going to have ALOT of explaining to do, especially here in california.

whats wrong with a shotgun?

I am a fair shot with a 9mm or smaller, but anything larger has too much kick without a lot of practice.

Thanks much.
please be more specific, what kind of zombie attack are you preparing for? an all out epidemic, or... what? more info please.

no weapons are necessary for the swine flu, just a lot of rotisseries to cook the infected on.

I no longer need a firearm for self-protection. If I want to scare the hell out of someone,I just flash a picture of Ted Kennedy or Nancy Pelosi not wearing makeup.

OP whenever I shop for a new piece I always like to shoot it first. Best advice because you will find people will swear by thier piece is to find what you like.

Reeds indoor range in San Jose has a huge selection of rentable fire arms, there is also a place out near sac I tink its grant line guns or somthing. Go rent a few, shoot them and pick the one YOU like best.

I have really small woman like wrists but can hit almost anything and compete with my Sprigfield operator in 45ACP. The army makes me shoot the Berretta 92f and I hate it but can shoot with it.

If you go the 1911 route you get what you pay for. FTR my 45acp springfield has less recoil than my 92f 9mm.

I personally dont like glocks. I have seen to many accidental discharges "2" while re holstering under duress and the trigger is just no fun for me, but people swear by them.

My favorit piece is my Browning high power in 9mm. Its a piece of junk and not really accurate but its a blast to shoot no recoil and 9mm is cheap. My wife now plays with that and loves it.
I am going to take a leap on my first "cheap" 1911 and im getting the Tarus 45ACP that they have for $530. They developed this handgun for the military and it is being considered if the army dropps Berretta which I hope they do.
The H&K 45USP is a nice weapon as well. Took me some time to get used to but its almost as accurate as my Springfield OP.

If you noticed the trend towards 45 for me its because I feel it is the superior hand gun round. It is expensive but well worth it IMO.
