Just for another option, Fujifil is suppose to have a good bang-per-buck camera. BestBuy has got this one for $108

FujiFilm Finepix J10 8.2MP

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1200703005868

Just throwin that out there.

that is an important feature most P/S's don't have.

From a photographer's perspective, I would always go with Canon or Nikon.

Fuji uses the stupid XD memory that is harder to find, doens't fit most other stuff and is expensive compared to to SD.

I forgot to mention that. If you don't mind using an xD card than they have good equipment. My SD cards usually just stay in my cameras anyway, I don't use card readers or anything like that. I like using all SD because I can swap them between equipment though.

So does Olympus BTW...

-they are still out there, just not as easy to find as SD, but any decent camera or electronics shop should still stock xD as well as SD

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh! This thread has me more confused then when I first came into it!

I did some searches online and a lot of people like the camera for the exact reason I want a camera like this. Like I said, I dont want anything fancy, just literally a point and shoot with good resolution and basic options and since I already have this camera in my possession and right in front of me, I think I'm just going to crack it open and start using it... I love the size of it! Fits in my pocket so perfectly, long battery life, high capacity for pictures, good flash and settings... I think this will be great.

If I want to get back into photography like I used to be in high school I will get a digital SLR, but I have too many hobbies right now as it is, maybe one day.

Now I'm all excited that I can start taking pictures! YAY!!! No more camera phone CRAP! 8mp for the win! (for me at least!)

I have a Cannon Digital Elph, it's the SD770-IS (image stabilizing). It's a great little point-n-shoot, and it's 10.0mp resolution. Excellent battery life and straight forward controls. I love it for taking with me when I don't want to carry my big SLR around. It's a pretty sweet little camera.

Doesn't mean much since it's still got a small image sensor. You probably could tell the difference between that Canon 14.7MP and my Canon 8.0MP unless you making a billboard size picture from it. My Nikon D40 takes better quality shots than both of those with only 6.1MP.

Megapixels are meh once you get past 5MP. The quality comes in the lens, the image sensor, and the image processor.

Yeah, thats about double the price of what I wanted to spend... Sounds like a great camera, but $100 over my budget.

I always thought that 6-8mp was the usable limit for most shots, and anything past that is basically a waste like you said unless of course you're doing billboard size photos.

8mp for me is more then enough, I think this will be a fine addition to my imaging tools.
