I wasn't sure if the motor had to be in perfect running condition (I know they check for idle speed, but I don't know if a motor that has "misses" will pass or not). I figure if everything is stock, it has all the o2 sensors, cats, smog equipment and hoses hooked up it should be ok.

Wouldn't a cam require a tune? Does the tune cause any problems with their machines?

yeah a cam requires a tune, I don't think they have the capability to see if the flash is stock or not, I've heard of a lot of people disabling CELs for stuff that doesn't exist anymore (like a fuel tank sensor in specific) and passing.

I'm assuming that as long as everything looks stock you should be fine. You should ask Erick since he's been through this. Good luck Paul!

If a cam is lopey... That means it has a lot of valve overlap. Increased overlap = way higher HC output. So while you may sneak through visual. Tailpipe will be ugly

its a two speed idle test if we're talking about your subaru so it wont matter

no problem with the machines if you tune it properly. cant check tunes, only monitors and whether MIL is on or off. (possible check vins too but that one is up in the air)

I thought he meant lobey like the idle. He should still be ok if his cat is good and hot.

as long as you pass smog and engine bay looks stock

(no extra clear hosing, colored silicone hoses, stock air box, put your heatshield on as it covers more shenanigans)

They will ask what motor you have, choose which ever year motor you feel like having, 04 sti being one of the least smog restrictive and best, but if you have everything just state what you have.

Make sure no cel, and obd2 port works

They may or may not smog you on the spot.

I had one occurrence where they did not ask me to smog, but to just smog it next year at any station when smog was due.

You drive a subaru, lob is not noticed haha
