If the Niners end up tanking really hard I think they should trade down to somewhere near the 4th to 10th picks and hope that either Bush, Adrian Peterson or Lendale White fall to them. Hopefully, they'll get some extra 2nd or 3rd round picks to build depth for that o-line.

They will have a pick in the top 5. Reggie Bush will go first, maybe Matt Leinart, but probably not, especially since most of the teams that suck have decent QB's.

They might not have any long terms goals for Smith. They may be trying to acquire his potential now for a good trade a few years down the road. That was the Eagles original intention for McNabb. They turned down Ricky Williams (thank God) to get him and really upset fans. Ironically all those fans that booed the draft now wear his jersey. Go Eagles!!!!

Umm, no. Football is the only sport where trades, particularly one of that magnitude are virtually impossible.

Very true...remember how the niners f'd up the T.O. situation. They were very lucky to get a draft pick out of the deal.

^^^I agree...there's no way they would use a number one pick to draft someone that they would develop enough to become tradeable just to get some other guys down the line. Especially when we're talking about a Quarterback.

Once you get a QB developed you're good for at least a decade so there's no good reason to trade him. Plus, if a team were stupid enough to trade a good QB the team that would receive him would be hamstrung because they'd have to then rebuild their offense around him and get him acclimated to the playbook...it just wouldn't make sense.

Niners didnt eff anything up, he was supposed to be a free agent, his agent didnt file the paperwork on time, so he wasnt a free agent and they traded him away. He is lucky it ended they way it did.

I'd like to remind you that the Eagles aren't doing nearly as well as they did last year and the fact that I grew up in Philadelphia for the first 16 years of my life. TIA.

I never said it was a good idea but it's a possibility. Look at the quaterback before McNabb. Randall ****ing Cunningham, they totally sucked back in those days and had that *** hat forEVER. They were looking for any kind of potential. Playable or tradable.

When I say f'd up, I mean that they should have resigned him. I don't see how you can let the best receiver in the league go to another team. I know he was unhappy and wanted a trade, but I'm sure if the niners threw enough $ at him he would've stayed. He was mostly unhappy w/ Garcia, and they got rid of Garcia the next season so that didn't make much sense at all.
