I had a KTM 450 EXC-R and it was a pretty bad *** bike but many on the motard forums and thumpertalk all seemed to like the 525 due to no smog crap. Another bike that a lot of people like is the Yamaha 250x pretty cool tard but its fuel injected and might have you wanting more power. Husky 510 is a cool bike as well and seem to be pretty popular in the motard world one of my friends owns one and loves it. The Ducati to me is more like a street fighter type bike but a little lighter but I dont think you'll be able to throw it around as easy as the actual dirt bike/motard platform. The Aprilia seems to be hard to come by for personal reviews, at least for me it was. Your best bet is to try and ride some really. We all can tell you one thing and then you get it and be unhappy about it or get that one thing ride another and not love yours anymore. My vote does go with the KTM though even though sometimes it can be a pain in the butt to deal with but like your car if you keep up with maintenance it will perform like the day you got it. All you have to do is gear it correctly and maybe a JD Jetting kit and if you choose an exhaust you got a fun toy right there.

damn you tall people... i would be looking into a supermoto but me being on the short side, doesn't want to deal with the hight issue. Out of those I would say either the aprilia Dorsoduro 750 or the husqvarna 510 smr. I know Good Times of Sacramento sells both brands and usually has a pretty good selection.

That's a street bike with longer springs in the front.

My vote. DRZ 400sm.
rebuilding? have you ever owned a KTM or husky. other than valve adjustments ever 1500 hours i never didnt anything else other than change the oil and fluids. the drz400 is a great newbie bike but nowere near my riding skill. just not enough top end for me.
i threw the duc on the list cause i was certain someone would mention it. the best part about all this, money is no longer an issue. but i made a promise to the wife, she gets a new car and house and ill spend 10k tops on new toys. that means a portion for the sti,new moto and 2 ruckus for me and her.

Why not a KTM 690? The motor is pretty stout and it's not super stressed. The bigger SM's may be a little heavier, but unless you're tracking it, you're not going to care. Plus they work a bit better on the freeway at freeway speeds. My vote would be for a KTM 690 SMC, 690 SM-R, or a Husky 610.

Good for you man. I know the PD jerked you around and generally made your life hell, it's good news that your gonna get some payback.

What $65K car is the wifey getting? For $85K you could get yourself a GTR!!!

after we lost the boys shes really been in a rut. i promised once this was all finished i would do 2 things for her
1-knock her up(and boy am i good at that)
2-larger SUV. im getting her a 09-11 landcruiser. just need to find the one she wants. MPG dont matter as much cause he office moved closer and i feel safer with her in it.

and yes they really dicked me around BUT watch the news,SO county is no short 1 DDA and 1 investigator. whats sad is they still maintain the attitude of they did nothing wrong.

on a more positive note the wife took me bike shopping today. got to check out a 2011 husky 630 sm and a beta 520. both are nice but a little wide in the middle for me. im looking for a 525exc to ride. its down to a hsky 510smr or the ktm 525.

the STI is more than enough for me. ED works his magic. its a 11 sec easy.

I was looking for news about this, but I can't find any. Want to point me in a certain direction? haha

I'm curious.
