Yeah, I charged outta there a year ago and haven't looked back (I'm just further up San Tomas now).

My buddy used to live in Bella Vista... nice places, but he moved out because the rental office people were dipsticks and kept depositing his checks into a wrong account and then sending him a notice saying his payments were late!

there were some burglary events in sunnyvale (ortega park) area last oct nov and dec. The cops eventually caught the thief and the thief was a 55 year old couple. Can you believe that. On day i realised i had forgotten to turn the alarm on i drove from SFO back to sunnyvale turned the alarm and went back. It is sick.

sorry to hear that someone took your good man, that always sucks.
I have been doing my taxes the last few days, and as i was reading all the deductions i saw that you can deduct "Casualties, Disasters, and Thefts"
http://www.irs.gov/publications/p547/index.html
http://www.irs.gov/publications/p547/ar02.html#d0e677
though right now i know i would just want my stuff back, and get the hell out of there, hey, if you can get some $ back from the tax man next year, do it!
i have never used this, so i don't know the limits, but i hope it helps you.
good luck.

Thanks for the info netzro. I'll definitely deduct what ever I don't get back from the insurance. But I'd rather get my stuff back...

Sorry to hear about the thefts... getting anything stolen sucks. Hope they find whoever did this.

If I were in your shoes, I'd go door-to-door to my neighbors, asking if anybody saw anything. It is entirely possible that somebody saw people entering your apartment, but perhaps thought that you are just getting the place cleaned/repaired etc. Alternatively, I'd talk to the management, and just tell them that, unless they do something, I will start going door-to-door. Presumably it is not something that the management would like to see happen.

Oh, and maybe invest in some spycams, if only for the peace of mind.

I did go door to door in my building and adjacent buildings that night. And I found out my neighbor from 2 doors down had some of his things stolen from his car on the same day my stuff got stolen! My management won't do crap. I'm going to post a review on apartmentratings.com. It might not help on my case, at least I can warn people about it.

sounds like maybe one of the employees with access to master keys is pulling jobs. I got some stuff stolen out of my car in a garage in S.F....a high end garage. I parked next to a couple very high end euro cars every day. I felt like it was odd how it went down. I reported it. They didn't do anything. I talked to the cops they didn't do anything. Then I pushed it pretty hard and made it known that I was pretty sure what was going down...there was a RASH of break ins. Exact same style. Same garage. Same hours. I actually had been checking on my car around the time I thought it happened every day. I missed by maybe 10 minutes. I could tell they didn't finish with my car. They were trying to get the deck out.

long story short......about 2 weeks after the break in my cd case just showed up in the stair case. No one reported it in all that time and no one saw it.....I looked in the stair case the day it happened.

All my cd's where there exept for 14....all rap. Didn't touch the punk, the hip hop the misc stuff...just snoop and 50 and dead prez and stuff like that.

My car was never messed with again in that garage and I parked there every day for like 6 months.

I think the construction contractors might also had something to do with it. On that day, there were at least 5 contractors in my building the entire day doing renovation on the empty units. The thief tried to go through the patio window by unscrewing the frame. My patio is visible from the outside and anyone working there will see the thief clearly. So, he took the time to unscrew the frame and prying the lock on the patio door means he was there for some time.

It's unlikely that none of the contractors saw anything strange. I'm at a loss now because no one, not even the police, will do anything. Need some street justice!

Update!!!

I had a bunch of Amex checks that were stolen also. Milpitas police contacted me today. Someone used the canceled checks at a hotel. 1 white male in his 40s and 1 white female were staying at Beverly Heritage over the weekend. The stupid night manager got suspecious because the signitures on the checks didn't quite match. He called amex and found they were stolen/lost. But he didn't call the police and left it to the daytime manager. The daytime manager called the police this morning and they came. But the bastards checked out already. They left a bunch of software in their room.

Man! It was so close to getting my stuff back.

That is so retarded. If the Night manager took action right away they would have caught them. How can some one delay these kind of thing. On the other hand. If the police were called right away it's not like they are going to take any action right away.

If the police got there right away, they could at least taken down their info. The hotel don't write down their driver license number or car license number. They checked out in the morning. The night manager thought there would be no police at the police department at night. Idiot!
