its really sucks that that happened, and your right it does sound like a inside job with the construction guys. let the cops know about the locks construction guys so they can do a investigation.
I hate people who steal and i hope those guys get caught and someone kicks the crap out of them.

Often times renters insurance specifically excludes non-itemized jewelry

Stupid me, I didn't itemize the jewlery. So we'll be lucky if we get 25% of what we lost back from the insurance. To the police this is low priority. They don't have the time to investigate this. And the apartment management won't do crap about it. My wife is too scared to live there so we've been coming and going everyday from my parents' place. Thank God for parents.

that is so terrible. I'm so sorry.
did you buy the ring on a card or with a form of credit? Sometimes they have their own insurance policies.
Best of luck. Getting robbed sucks.
I was there when my buddy discovered he had been robbed. EVERYTHING...even his toothbrush.
no insurance. Think all he had left was some clothes and a mattress. Bastard even jacked my playstation and some games I had loaned my buddy.
I need to get renters insurance. Right now I just have a couple dogs.

Sorry to hear about the robbery. my parents house was robbed 6-7 years ago. They didnt take much because my parents dont have much. the worst part about being robbed is that you dont feel safe in your own home for awhile afterwords.
1 of my old coworkers was robbed while she was in the house! apparently the thieves broke into the house while she was getting ready for work. When they realized she was still in the house, they locked themselves in her stepdaughters room. When my coworker came out to go to work, she just thought her stepdaughter was home so she just did her thing and left. It could have been disastrous because it was only her and her 2 year old daughter at home. In her case, it was an insider job because the thieves knew exactly where their safe was hidden (they took the entire safe) and they knew that her husband was away in China for a month. pretty scary stuff.

Thanks for all the kind words guys. I think this is a good reminder for everyone to look out for suspicious people/cars/things around your neighborhood. If you can afford it, get an alarm or a big a$$ dog. We have a cat so he is not much of a deterant.
The thief left my apartment pretty much the way it was. He also left dirty foot prints and they only lead to the places where the valuables were. So that clued me in he knew where things were. He might already had scoped out my things before hand. There were instances before where we came home to find the hall lights on. I just thought my wife might had left it on since she's known to do that.
Anyway, I guess I can write all this off as a loss.

^ Hahahah. Yes, I need that. But how to make it true for the real intruders? Rig my AR15 to fire at the door if the alarm goes off? Or drop a gallon of cocentrated HCl on them.
Dude, I used to live in the Archstone Rivermark... someone stole a set of Saleen wheels out of my garage, and there was no damage to the lock whatsoever. Management did jack ****, I'm guessing that was an inside job as well.
That area was a mess, they charge you up the *** for rent but there were always cops around busting people in that Section 8 apartment complex next door.
GL, hope you catch those dip****s.

^ Thanks man. I live in the Bella Vista complex (not for long). On the same day my stuff were stolen, another guy in my building 2 doors over, had his things stolen from his car. Though his car was unlocked. Still that was theft! And the management there did nothing. I asked them to post notices in the complex to just to warn people of suspicious people and to check their doors and property due to recent burglaries. They just outright refused!!! They don't seem to care about their customers. We all have to pay a lot for rent, it's the least they could do.
Anyway, I'm outa there in a week.
