Buddy needs differential advice

OK this is a sad story. My friend thought he was all set to swap in the Kaaz limited slip differential into his BMW 3-series. He got to the shop today and found out he only has the internals (gears) and the install requires he get the internals installed into his current differential casing by a transmission shop, or buy the entire unit preassembled.

So now he can't afford to put in the LSD on his car and is looking to sell it and purchase a used BMW E36 M3 differential instead.

What would you do if you were in his place? (please no jackass, peanut-gallery comments needed) Also do you know of any folks who want to sell a used BMW E36 limited-slip differential or related parts?

If you can help, thanks a bunch

He has no automotive experience (yeah go figure) and has no faith in his own work. Also he wants it done right the first time.

He's posted info about it on Samurai Files...please check out the post and send him an email if you have had good experience at a transmission or maybe specialty differential shop. Thank you!!

E36 328is w/ upgraded suspension. It's a big bummer, he was looking forward to this day for months but he didn't do his homework unfortunately. Now he has to cover his rear end and find a way to get a LSD in his car.

I would start doing some homework then and yank the tranny, then do it yourself.
Get a manual, and a BMWafied torque wrench and your set!
