bay area noobie that needs advice on car
i found a clean *** 2000 2.5rs for sale. it has wr short ram, cheap muffler shop exhaust, cusco front strut bar, and its dropped with something. its a 2000 with only 12k mi. everything sounds fine but its salvaged title. hes asking 10500, but i know i can get it for mid to high 9s. he said he bought it from an auction and has no records or anything. the reason it was salvaged was b/c of an accident. he showed me the pictures and it doesnt look like its bad enough to be salvaged. oh its from arizona too. i dunno, it sounds good, but hella scetchy. bringin it to carlsen subaru for inspection. if everything goes well 9,600-9,800gs. yes or no? need advice! thank you
of course it's "worth it". Depends on what you want.
remember, it's funner to go sideways than in a straight line. If you want to do autoX and roadracing, I'm sure the 2.5RS can get you just as far, if not farther for the buck!

i'm with homerjay. salvaged title, not a good sign. it's is still your choice and it's your money. good luck!!!
miami.
yep...
the RS has gone up a bit in valuer lately. there are soo many wrx's on the road the old body style has come back into vogue.
i would avoud a salvage title like the plague. the resale value is VERY bad, and it only will cause you headaches.
if you are patient, you can pick up an older GC8 non-RS for cheap, and add the neccessary parts as you have $$ to make it into a rocket. RS parts are cheap, and most people swap most of the parts off anyway. just an idea....

Salvage Title = $$$ Insurance Rates
Some insurance companies will not insure salvaged cars. Those that do, the rates are high.
Think about it -- salvaged means that the car supposedly suffered so much damage, it did not make sense to repair it. So the car's safety and integrity are questionable to the insurance carrier, hence high rates.
