I saw the BRZ this morning while picking up a part for my STI . Smaller then I expected but definitely nice. Actually thinking about selling my STI to pick up a BRZ to build.

While I do agree that it'll be very difficult if not impossible to get a test drive in a BRZ, they sure as hell test drive STis. I test drove one along with a slew of other cars about 6 months or a year ago. No questions asked.

Depends on the dealership and I was referring to the first 6 months of their release. A lot of dealerships don't have enough pull to even have them on the lot (unsold). So usually if you see one at the lot they have one... inside. Or they're sold and can't let you drive them.

Places like Stevens Creek... if they have one they'll probably let you drive it. But even at Capitol last time I was there they only had one on the lot and it was inside. No test drives and all the WRX's on the lot were sold already. ALL of them.

I thought air0n'03 said it was white-wth? Oh, does anyone know what kind of automatic tranny the BRZ uses, i might have to get a slush box next for my wife since she can't (refuses) to drive stick!

STi isn't a car though, it's an in house tuning division similar to BMW's M, Mercedes' AMG, or Nissan's Nismo. By limiting it to one car they would lose the cache of having STi variants of other cars and lose some potential sales. While it initially started as a division to build up and homologate rally cars, it quickly morphed into something far more beneficial to Subaru as a whole.

Agreed. The first six months is pretty much a crapshoot in terms of getting a test drive.

I bought my ITR over two years after they came out and when I asked the guy if I could test drive it he said "Yes, as soon as you buy it.". So I DID. That was from Oakland Acura though.

After further inspection & reading, i think i like the FR-S much better, the front grill is way better looking (more aggressive) & they said it has neutral handling, unlike the Subaru version that understeers. I don't like the Scion brand though, but i'd just debadge it anyways haha! It's gonna be cheaper i believe too, they're essentially the same car anyways, i'd go for the lower price any day. I gotta test drive one to really know wussup, maybe someone will show up to a meet in one!

No, they said the FR-S would be softer, not more neutral. I like the look of both, but I do give a slight edge to the FR-S.

There's probably gonna be more FR-S's in stock & they'll be more lenient on test driving them too, Subie's too strict & only 6000 for 2013 in US-good luck in that sh*t!

While I'm sure it will be difficult to get a test drive, I don't think it will be impossible. Also, the quantities haven't been confirmed yet and it looks like they may be bringing over more than the initially quoted 6,000:

Subaru targets 100,000-unit goal for BRZ, Toyota GT 86 and Scion FR-S production

Lol I could've sworn it was white from the pictures the salesman showed me. I remember him telling me it had paddle shifters
