I got ~ 22k (freeway commute) + a few autox's out of my last set. I wished I had the spare cash to grab an extra set when they were on closeout. My current set should be good for another 10-15k hopefully.

IF you have the spare cash, buy the RS-2 now. For the price you will be glad you bought them when your RE-01R DO wear out.

Thats the thing... if I were to buy them, It'd be on the credit card. Its out of my budget right now but in the long run it would pay off.

British rule:
1) tires shouldn't be used if longer than 6 years from date of manufacture if unused
2) all tires should be replaced if longer than 10 years from date of manufacture

American adaptation:
OEM tires should be replaced after 6 years of service

I want to jump on the Hankook closeout but I dont know how long mine will last... I put about 10K miles a year on the car and if the RE01Rs last 20K miles I dont want the Hankooks in the garage for 2+ years. During that time span another closeout will probably come around. But on the other hand if the RE01Rs wear away real fast then I wouldnt mind keeping the RS2 in storage for up to a year.

Any advice? Thoughts? No autox or track driving but I do like to drive hard 60% of the time.
They are a great tire. They wear better than most others in their category and the grip doesn't heat cycle out as fast and others. So far I still prefer them over my RE-11s, but that might change once I learn to set up the car better to make use of the grip. The RE-11s have better grip over all but so far lack the stiffness or feeling of the RE-01R

are you high? It does not get much better than the RS-2 for less than $80 per tire!

Driving in the "first rain" is always a sketchy situation, no matter what tire you are on...

Agreed. The first rain brings out all the oils and debris from the road. It's one of the most dangerous rain times of the season.

Also depends on just how new the tires were at the time. If the tires had not been broken in vs already broken in tires will have a difference in how they drive in both the rain and the dry weather.

I found the RE10R to be stickier than RS2 and it lasted longer too boot.

I am running Re01r now, and have about 20,000 miles on them with a good amount left. Probably another 6 months or so. And this is just daily driving to and from work 60 miles round trip everyday.
