Question how many miles should the stock SIT tires last??

I have approx 2300miles on my 05 STI, I would like to get a much wider and stickier tires as soon as I wear out the stock RE070's.

How long do I need to wait? or should I hit some more corners?

i have 2 track days and of freeway miles on my RE070s on my 2005 totaling like 6960 miles and my fronts are shot, and my rears are half done. i think they'll last another 2 track days. looking to replace them with Pilot Sport 2's in 235/45/17 in about 2-3k miles.

The OEM tires are loud and annoying. Im gonna get slicks for the track (Dunlop Super Sport Race which are only $116 each...... great deal and stickier than anything) and PS2s for the street. Gotta give it to the RE070's turn in and break loose point, ive done crazy **** in the STi and gotten away with it.

Driving mostly conservatively on the freeway, while taking most offramps fairly agressively (to the point of squeal) and spirited mountain drives about every weekend, i got about 22k out of those things

I do mostly highway but cruise through the city quite a bit as well...no track or racing...04 STi...so far I have about 17,000 miles with another 3-5K...my fronts wore faster than the rears....just had them rotated...good to go.

Much wider and stickier tires than RE070s? You're gonna need race compounds for that.

Yah RE070's are stickey as all heck!

They may be OEM but they rule the school.

I've seen RE070s last 25k+ street driven. Alignment plays a HUGE role in tire wear, and STis tend to have crappy alignments from the factory.

Well mine have only lasted 15k, but I drive very hard. I also have taken them to 1 AutoX where I did about 13 runs, and they have been to the 1/4 mile track 30+ times.
