Brake bleeding question. Bleeding the MC?

Ive searched.

2006 WRX Wagon.

Got Stop-tech stainless steel lines, slotted rotors, and brakes. Changed all that out yesterday.

Side note: people ***** about strippin flare nuts, this is what I did to prevent that. Went to sears, bought craftsman flare wrenchs (not autozone brand) sprayed everything with pb blaster, nothing broke, stripped, or got rounded off. Buy proper tools.

Anyway, took me awhile and the MC ran dry. So I need to bleed the MC before i bleed the calipers, and I think I gotta get the air out of the ABS too, maybe not, service manual doesnt say **** about it.

So my question is about bleeding the master cylinder. I am aware of the thread on nasioc, and everyone links this bench bleed process which I have no intentions of doing, and they also talk about running tube from driver front caliper and prime into MC but you have to have speed bleeders for the process.

The service manual directions seem so much more simple but I wanted to make sure I understand this correctly because I dont see why anyone would try a different way.

11.Air Bleeding
A: PROCEDURE
1. MASTER CYLINDER
NOTE:
• If the master cylinder is disassembled or reser-
voir tank is empty, bleed the master cylinder.
• During the bleeding operation, keep the brake
reservoir tank filled with brake fluid to eliminate en-
try of air.
• The brake pedal operating must be very slow.
• For convenience and safety, two people should
do the work.
1) Loosen the wheel nuts, jack-up the vehicle, sup-
port it with rigid racks, and remove the wheel.
2) Disconnect the brake line at primary and sec-
ondary sides.
3) Put a plastic bag cover on master cylinder.
4) Carefully depress and hold the brake pedal.
5) Close the outlet plug with your finger, and then
release the brake pedal.
6) Repeat step 4) and 5) until the brake fluid is com-
pletely bled from outlet plug.
7) Remove the plastic bag.
8) Install the brake pipes to master cylinder.
Tighteningtorque:
15N⋅m(1.5kgf-m,10.8ft-lb)
9) Bleed air from the brake line. <Ref. to BR-47,
BRAKE LINE, PROCEDURE, Air Bleeding.>

So basically, I just put a ziploc baggie over the MC, have someone depress the brake, plug the holes with my finger while the pedal is let go, and do this until all the air is purged from reservoir. Then bleed the remainder of the system like normal. Why would anyone ever do the other ways if this is available.

Is the abs a need to bleed issue? Also what is a safe and proper way to bleed the air out of the abs, is driving and slamming on the brakes in a empty lot the only way to do this. And then if that is, wouldnt I have to bleed the brakes again. Or is the ABS not an issue.

Thanks for the help.

key the ignition to on. Your dash lights will be on and ABS motor will activate. Then bleed. That's how I've always done it.

Pedal still spongy, didnt do abs idea yet. i think its something with the master cylinder still

How much do you think a shop would charge to do a bleed if i provide the fluid?
