blown motor?

blown motor?

Hey guys, so i was driving home earlier tonight and went into boost in 5th gear and pulled a little then i heard a weird knock and then saw smoke come out from the back. Oil lamp eventually comes on and then CEL. The car turned off on it's on. I got the car back to my house, Plug in a OBD2 reader and it's not throwing any codes.

So i'm not very familiar with subi's and i was wondering if you guys have an idea of what it could be and if you guys have suggestions on how to go about fixing the problem.

2002 Subaru WRX
Car just made it over 100k with a vf34 and bolt ons. VF34 has been on for roughly 20-30k miles

yeah it was tuned. the turbo has been on for like 20k

How's the oil level, color consistency?

What color was the smoke?

Is it still knocking when it runs?

Was it a knock like a lower tone or like marbles clanking together?

smoke was white, the block was a mixture of coolant and oil on it. The car shut off itself and it was knocking while it was running. I have not tried to turn it back on. The knock kinda sounded like marbles clanking together not for sure.

Not a good sign. I'd get that sucker towed to a shop. Do not drive it again. Do not turn it on. Do not do anything. Have it towed to a shop. Depending on where you're at in the bay I'd take it to LIC or GST.

At the very least that's a blown head gasket but sound to me like more. I think she's toast.

Another subaru plauged by the 100k kiss of death haha

Mine did similar around 110-120k...needed new headgasket, but I ended up buildin a new motor...

Don't drive or start the car...don't want to make it worse

Sounds like a headgasket and spun bearings. Give us a call if you'd like to bring it by for an inspection.

Sorry, but those are not sounds one wants to hear. Sounds like expensive to me.

I have 119K on mine. The OBS has 220K and is just now starting to show signs of possible head gasket issues.
