in his case, i do not believe this is applicable.

are they going to run a dealer plate? hardly. and, if i'm not mistaken, deal plates do not give any vital information as per whom purchased said vehicle.

in that scenario, the cop did the right thing by pulling him over and citing him in person. FastTrak would not have had anything to determine whom he was, and then they just 'lose' money.

do i agree with the cops ticketing of a lacking rear plate? not at all. unfortunately, the actions of the offender somewhat forced his hands. but, thats really splitting hairs on the officer's part.

the guy had no place to put his paper showing legal purchase, etc. but, he did accidentally run the FastTrak...

i would contest it in court, but be absolutely clear that you're not trying to snake your way out of paying your dues. make it clear that it was an honest mistake and that circumstances beyond your control forced the situation (missing rear plate).

the judge might be cool and lower the charges.

i've gotten the failure to follow sign code before, it wasnt a moving violation... i rolled a stop sign, and the cop changed it to that so it wouldnt be so bad.. just paid it, check my record and no point, so unless they've changed it... i dunno... gluck

per the fastrak site, it says to mount it on the windscreen with velcro.

but it's rather hard to mount a 3x4 rectangular flat object to a windscreen that's bubbly/curved...
