EMAIL and the internet has pretty much rid of every bike messenger in the US of a job.

I just ride my cycle on heavily used cycle routes. Drivers in woodside and the peninsula are pretty aware of cyclists. Most people can't drive with other cars let alone with a cyclist following the rules of the road like a car. It can get pretty dangerous.

Word, I worked in a bike shop for 5 years...some cyclists are real idiots. You know what's fun though? Seeing a biker do something illegal (like in the above story, or not stopping at a sign, or cutting accross streets, etc...) and pulling over and giving them a hard time WITH a bike on the roof of my car and about a half dozen bike stickers on the car. That way they can't say 'stupid motorist'...they always feel like dumbasses.
