The VX10 is also a very nice phone, bought one for my roomates sister... however it does not have voice dial... kind of a big feature (for me at least) to be missing
I've had sprint, at&t, pacbell/cingular, and now verizon. I think I like the service the best so far. Sprint and pacbell were horrible. AT&T was good, as well. However, w/ my phone, I always get full reception everywhere.
Go for either AT&T or Verizon.

I have Cingular. They're okay. Er... well, their coverage sucks and I've heard rumors that they're going to upgrade soon...but this was like...3 years ago. So that's pretty much out of the window until I see some results.
I went up to Novato to hang out with some friends. Two of my friends have AT&T. They had 3 bars of reception. However, I had absolutely nothing, one bar if I was lucky, with my hands in the air, standing outside on his driveway. When someone called me, all I heard was silence and a lot of skipping.

I have used AT&T, Nextel, and now Sprint. Sprint is the best...by far...followed by AT&T(Although Cust. Service sucked) and then a distand last is Nextel.
Nextel has so many holes that it is like swill cheeze.
Alot depends on the phone. I have had 1 Motorols, 2 Panasonics, and now the SCP 5300 Sanyo. The Japanese phones are the best...by far...I have had Kyocera's and Panasonics in Japan (Docomo, KDDI PHS, and Jphone(Vodaphone)) and the Japanese phones are so far superior to the crap from Finland and USA. Nokia was CRAP...CRAP...CRAP...I can't stress it enough...and that was a newer phone too. The motorola Brick (Nextel) was SOLID and OK...Panasonics are Awesome...but this Sanyo seems to take the cake...
I am going to try a Korean phone too. They use copied Japanese Technology, so they should be pretty good too...

First I had AT&T now I have Sprint. Sprint is okay, but AT&T has the best coverage BY FAR. The only reason I switched is because I hate those god damn nokia pieces of crap they call phones. You're either trying to talk into a ****ing tictac, or the huge POS keeps turning itself off right when that important call comes.
Get ATT, but only if you can find a NOKIA that doesn't totally suck *** or if they have different phones now. Oh and IMO sprint vision is for tools. watch every person i know on this board will now proceed to tell me that they have vision.
EDIT: You'll want to read this, no matter who you are. If you are getting close to the end of your bullshlt 1 year contract (i HATE that), be sure to call up your customer service agent and tell them you want to cancel your service because you're getting a phone from another provider (doesn't matter which one, but I know this works with Sprint.). Chances are that the rep will proceed to offer you REALLY good deals on plans ie ones that they are only authorized to offer if a person is trying to cancel. the idea is that it is VERY hard to get a customer to come back to your service once he leaves (esp b/c of the 1 year plans) so the providers are willing to offer you ridiculous rates on minutes in order to retain you as a paying customer. this works best when you have a provider you like of course. if they don't offer you a better deal, you can always say you were kidding before the conversation ends and have them switch it back.
it worked for me, so go get yourself a bunch of free on peak minutes!!!

actually, you could say that the Japanese use copied Korean technology, considering the Koreans have BY FAR the most advanced network, the Japanese are behind as far as technology goes... in handsets as well as networks...

Korean businesses are notorious for ripping off JDM electronic patents. It happened to my father in law's company. They spent months in Korea negotiating a deal on electronic calibration equiptment (HIGH END)...and what happened...they took the prototypes that were to be sold to them by the Japanese company, and knocked them off...
