my contract with cingular is expiring soon, and I am thinking about getting nextel b/c of 2 way..but I am not sure yet..who do u guys think has the best service...
i have sprintpcs since 1998... pretty good so far. I don't really look at the plans. i just know when i go out with my friends who have differen carriers have worst reception from time to time.

I've been really happy with AT&T. Great coverage, have done me right (over 4+ years) on service, etc.
I took a cross-country trip in Summer 2001 with a friend who had Cingular (Bay Area to Detroit, via I-80 for the most part). I had cell coverage pretty much the entire way across. His signal dropped out about 10 miles east of Sparks NV and didn't pick up again consistently until CHICAGO.

that metro pcs is a double edged sword.
$35 ANYTIME minutes all the time.
downside is that it is only in the BAY AREA and parts of SAC. no LA, no central valley, etc.
so if you are 99% talking in the bay area, metro is something you should look at...

Though you could definatly call me bias, I voted for Verizon (I work for them), We have the largest network by far, our plans may be a bit more expensive than other carriers, but that comes with a much larger network footprint, which makes for better reception. (also in the not so distant future we will have the "radio" function that nextel has...but it will require a different phone than what we currently offer)
anyways im done with my Verizon advertisment...
P.S. oh and if you do go for Verizon, DO NOT GET THE MOTOROLA T720!!!!!!!! no matter what the salesperson says. if you want a color phone get the LG VX4400 stay away from the T720...

DONT get it please!!! it WILL break or have some kind of software defect... it is a terrible phone, dont let a salesguy tell you different, oh, and ALWAYS buy from a Direct Verizon store (company owned) or at least chekc what the indirect retailers return policy is... one down here in santa cruz gives you like 30 minutes on the phone then you cant return it... all company stores are 15 days...
anyways the t720 sucks goat *****, pay a little more and get the LG VX4400 it is by far MUCH better (its also what EVERYBODY in my entire store own)

I couldn't wait for my Sprint contract to end. It has to be the worst ever service I have ever used. It always dropped calls, or you couldn't hear because of too much static.
I searched for a good month before deciding on a cell phone carrier. Verizon and AT&T were supposedly the two top. But Verizon didn't have many minutes in their under $40 plan.
SO I went with AT&T last week. NO problems at all. Not one dropped call. Crystal clear. I don't have to go outside of the house in the freezing cold just to use my cell phone now.
