Before I get ripped off at the stealership...

I'm not sure if this should go in the classifieds or not, so if the mods need to move it, please do so.

My upper radiator hose just ripped a hole, so I'm in need of a new one. SubaruParts has it listed for $11.93 +$10 shipping, but Livermore Subaru wants $22. So, before I get ripped off there, does anyone have an upper radiator hose in the local area that'll be cheaper than going to Livermore (I hate this dealership, but since my parents moved, it's the only option where I live)? Anywhere east west from Livermore to Castro Valley, and north south from Danville to Fremont?

Have you tried NAPA auto parts (or another local store)?

It's just a radiator hose made of rubber. As long as it's the right size and shape, there's no need to buy "genuine" OEM, especially if you're getting ripped off.

$22 for a hose is not a rip off; cheaper than replacing an overheated engine.

I agree except some stores sell hoses that are obviously not up to OE quality...buyer beware.

I'd say pay the 22 bucks for piece of mind
its not like they are asking $50 for OEM while you can get aftermarket for $15

+1, I'd just go with the $22+tax at the dealership

Yeah, $22 vs overheated engine is a pretty easy decision. I just called around, found Diablo had it for $20, and Livermore beat the price to $18.95. Maybe their service/parts dept is making a change for the better?

Thanks for the PMs and everything guys, the new hose is installed and hopefully everything is back to normal. Quick questions for anyone who has input though:

Should I get my radiator flushed since so much coolant has leaked out?
I could just use distilled water until the flush, since I know it's not going to get anywhere near freezing at this time in the year.
Is Subaru Coolant really necessary vs some name brand coolant?
What about Subaru Coolant Conditioner?
