Personally, I think San Gregorio is one of the best beaches in NorCal.

Looks like these are a few other ones for you.

Bean Hollow State Beach

Pomponio State Beach

Pescadero State Beach

Basically if you haven't figured it out, the NorCal beaches that are good are all pretty close together (IMO).

Any beaches that allow for tents to camp on the sand - let me know!

Hmmm....mixed reviews with Santa Cruz there. I personally wasn't all that pleased with the beaches at Santa Cruz. When I went there, there was a ton of driftwood all over the place and the rest of the beach just didn't look all that cleaned up to me. Now granted this was a long time ago so things may have changed by now, but I'd personally still say go farther North up to the ones I mentioned earlier (those are also a bit closer to Vallejo as well).

Watsonville has Sunset Beach, then close by is Carmel. Definitely want to go there.

I'm in Santa Cruz right now. I'll admit the Beach Boardwalk is not that great. But the surrounding beaches in Santa Cruz are really nice. The weather here is superb I must add
